The ToDrinQ project, focused on advancing innovative water management solutions, was prominently featured at the recent 58th Essener Tagung for Water Resources Management, held in Essen, Germany. The prestigious conference, operating under the theme “Impulses from Europe – Challenges, Innovations, and Practical Solutions,” served as a key platform for sharing advancements in the water sector.

Carsten Bartels from the Institute of Environmental Engineering (ISA) presented the latest developments within the ToDrinQ project. The presentation, delivered in close collaboration with and on behalf of Prof. Dr. ir. Luuk Rietveld of TU Delft and Alex van der Helm of Waternet, detailed the progress made in developing a sophisticated design-support tool aimed at creating flexible water treatment plants. A specific focus was placed on the application and learnings related to the Demo Case 1 in Amsterdam.

The Essener Tagung, a cornerstone event in the European water sector for over five decades, annually attracts up to 1,000 participants, ranging from students and young professionals to seasoned experts. This year’s conference featured over 70 presentations from renowned figures in academia, industry, and politics, covering the most current and future-oriented topics in water resources management.

The Essener Tagung provides an unparalleled forum for exchanging knowledge and fostering innovation in the water sector. Our partners were honored to share the ToDrinQ project’s advancements, particularly our work on the design-support tool for enhancing treatment plant flexibility. Presenting our collaborative efforts with TU Delft and Waternet, and highlighting the DC#1 Amsterdam application, allowed them to engage with peers and contribute to the important dialogue on practical solutions for future water challenges.
