Every year on 22 March, World Water Day provides a global moment to reflect on the essential role of water in our societies and the importance of collective action to ensure its sustainable management. The 2026 theme, Water and Gender Equality, highlights the need to move beyond technical approaches and address the social dimensions of water governance, including participation, inclusiveness and equity.
In this context, the ZeroPollution4Water Cluster is organising a dedicated online event titled ‘Water Resilience & Gender – From Policy to Practice‘ on 23 March 2026 from 11:00 to 12:00 (CET), focusing on the links between water resilience, gender equality and research and innovation. The event will bring together perspectives from across the water and environmental sector to explore how more inclusive approaches can contribute to strengthening resilient water systems in a changing world.
The session will address key challenges related to climate change and water security, the role of gender equality in shaping effective and inclusive water policies, and the contribution of scientific careers and innovation to advancing resilience. It will also showcase experiences and insights from ongoing initiatives working at the intersection of water management, governance and social innovation.
By fostering dialogue across disciplines and sectors, the event aims to contribute to a broader understanding of how inclusive and integrated approaches can support the transition towards more sustainable and resilient water systems.
