As part of the ToDrinQ project and Demo Case 2 (wp2), a significant initiative is underway at Yliki Lake, Athens, Greece, to enhance water quality monitoring. The EYDAP team has begun deploying advanced unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) equipped with state-of-the-art sensors. These USVs measure key parameters such as turbidity, temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, and chlorophyll-a. They are also capable of autonomously collecting surface water samples.

The data gathered from these efforts will be pivotal for the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in developing sophisticated machine learning models in wp4. These models aim to improve water monitoring and treatment processes for the Athens water supply system. Given the increasing importance of Yliki Lake for EYDAP’s operations, this initiative is crucial for ensuring reliable water quality and availability.

This ongoing project will continue to expand in the coming months, covering all areas of the lake. This effort highlights the commitment to advancing water management technologies and ensuring the sustainability of vital water resources.
